As the semester draws to an end and universities across New Zealand get ready to break for holidays, students are urged to give up their travel and down time to fill their resumes with internships – but a leading Australian travel experience provider is giving students the opportunity to do both at the same time.

Experience Oz + NZ has launched a national search for Kiwis to participate in ‘New Zealand’s Ultimate Internship’, giving students the chance to travel 2000kms across the island experiencing the country’s top destinations and attractions, but there’s a catch – they have to tell their Aussie neighbours about it.

The internship includes 10 days of paid travel for four people, stopping in Queenstown, Milford Sound, Rotorua, Taupo, Waitomo, Matamata and Auckland, with expenses including accommodation, experiences, car hire and flights valued at $30,000. Experience Oz + NZ Business Development Manager Michelle Woodroff said the successful candidate will get to share the internship experience with three friends for the 10 action-packed days. “We are looking for four New Zealanders to showcase their backyard to their Aussie mates across the ditch. The four chosen interns will visit seven iconic locations, alongside an Experience Oz representative, exploring some of New Zealand’s most unique attractions while showcasing their experiences in real time through photos, blogs, social media and videos.

“The internship won’t include sitting at a desk or running coffee errands, instead interns will be bungy jumping, sky diving, jet boating, visiting an active volcano and embarking on The Hobbiton movie set tour. “It’s a great opportunity for those with a passion for travel adventures, looking to build their portfolios and learn new skills in media production and social media along the way. It will look great on their resumes.” Applications are now open and those looking to apply will need to submit a visual resume, providing their best travel photos or videos showcasing some of their favourite landmarks or experiences in their own city. Ms Woodroff said with approximately 180,000* people studying at a higher education institution, TAFE or other education institutions in New Zealand, internships are highly competitive.

“Internship applications generally boom as students break for semester holidays, with many students trying to pack in work experience into their holidays so candidates are encouraged to get their entries in fast.” Applications are now open and close 27th October 2014, with the successful candidate announced on 4th of November 2014. The internship will take place during semester break from 17th – 26th of November and entrants must be 18 years and over.

People can apply by uploading their visual resumes via the Experience Oz Facebook, Instagram (experience_oz) or Twitter (@Experience_Oz) with the hashtag #experienceoz and #nzinternship or visit for more information.
